Aloha! My name is Leilani Johnson-Hagmoc and I am proud to be a public school educator. Currently, I teach 7th grade English Language Arts. Although I love teaching this subject, I am also fascinated by media and video design. Hence, I also teach media club after school. In media club I provide my students to an opportunity to plan, shoot, and edit authentic video. This year, we are learning to edit videos using Final Cut Pro.
Mahalo!
Aloha, Leilani. I like when a teacher is willing to learn right alongside her students. Michael

Aloha Leilani,
Media and video design has always been an interesting topic for me, although I’ve never yet pursued it. I wonder if our media design instructors know about this tool.

Hi Leilani!
I remember learning final cut pro at an ‘Ōlelo station in Palolo as an undergraduate student. It takes patience, but really shows you the power of video editing and film to tell a story. If you don’t know about Olelo’s training for educators, check this out – http://olelo.org/youth/ime/

Aloha Leilani, I envy your ability to work in middle school. Personally, I only have the heart to teach the little ones (lower elementary). Nonetheless, we both have very important jobs and that’s to provide our students with a great education. I think you are doing just that by giving your students an opportunity to learn skills in media and video design. As a high school student, I used Final Cut Pro and it is awesome because you can easily create and edit videos. -Tiana

Aloha Leilani,
I’m very happy to see an English Language Arts teacher in the program! And I think it’s awesome that you have a passion for media arts as well. It’s great to have multiple passions. I’ve heard a lot about Final Cut Pro but haven’t had the chance to test it out. Hopefully, I’ll get to try it later in the future.

Hi Leilani!
Love meeting other public school educators! I work with Kindergarteners, but I give so much credit to middle school teachers. That’s awesome that you give your time to teach media and video design to your students. Giving students opportunities to learn these types of things makes them so much more well-rounded. I haven’t given Final Cut Pro a try yet, but hopefully I’ll be able to in the near future.
